Life’s Challenges…
The framework of City Helps involves community-based alternatives that aim to facilitate the attainment of life skills and other objectives for program participants and their families within secure and nurturing community settings.
City Helps, CDC has been diligently involved in rendering aid and effectuating a constructive influence on the livelihoods of socioeconomically disadvantaged and susceptible youth and young adults for a span of more than sixteen years.
The primary aim of City Helps is to provide aid and support to economically disadvantaged families residing in the Suburban Chicago region who are deemed to be at risk and continue to reside in their own homes, with the ultimate goal of augmenting the overall standard of living for these families. Our fundamental objective revolves around equipping the younger generation with the necessary resources and capabilities to effectively and constructively contribute to the betterment of society.
City Helps has made a significant impact on a substantial percentage of adolescents and young adults, aged 11 to 24, across six different cities. City Helps prides itself on its unwavering commitment to delivering exemplary services and programs to the communities it serves. With a specific focus on engaging teenage and young adult participants, City Helps offers an extensive array of services and activities to cater to their unique needs and aspirations. In conjunction with initiatives aimed at deterring delinquency and violence, there exist readily accessible counseling and mediation services that specifically address the needs of juveniles and adolescents. Furthermore, the provision of references pertaining to diverse external aid organizations is also facilitated. The facilitation of our engagement with local and state agencies has been significantly enhanced due to the establishment of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and linkage agreements that have been meticulously formulated and cultivated throughout the course of the previous decade. The aforementioned agreements possess a commendable reputation and are characterized by a spirit of collaboration. The implementation of this initiative has facilitated our ability to effectively aid the residents of Cook County in attaining essential resources, thereby enhancing their holistic welfare and fostering their sustained prosperity. The establishment of the City Helps Community Committee, the Area Project Board, and the Youth Committee has been facilitated by affording residents and members of the communities we serve the opportunity to partake. This development is a direct consequence of a concerted collaborative endeavor involving an extensive array of stakeholders.
